MAPPLETHORPE EXHIBITION NOW OPEN
Robert Mapplethorpe: Portraits
January 23 – April 19, 2009

On Friday, the museum opened its latest exhibition Robert Mapplethorpe: Portraits to a sell-out crowd. Guest curator Gordon Baldwin (seen at left) gave a presentation of selected highlights from the exhibition and more than 700 people attended the reception to view the stunning collection of Mapplethorpe portraits. The collection of portraiture reflects and embodies the New York cultural milieu of the late 1970s and the 1980s and include many of the most significant artists, art dealers, writers, musicians, designers, dealers, actors and actresses of the period.
THIS EXHIBITION IS ORGANIZED BY THE PALM SPRINGS ART MUSEUM AND SPONSORED IN PART BY THE HELENE & LOU GALEN EXHIBITION FUND AND THE FAYE & HERMAN SARKOWSKY EXHIBITION FUND.

The next exhibition opening will be on Tuesday February 10 for the opening of Wayne Thiebaud: 70 Years of Painting.
