I don’t know about you, but my parents grew up in Palm Springs.  They would tell me some crazy stories of what went down in this town before I came into the picture.  Interesting, to say the least.
But even though that already seems like egons ago, being around in the 1970’s isn’t too wild when you really think about it.
What’s really wild is being around in the 1800’s.

In the 1800’s Palm Springs would better to have been known as “Se-Khi” (boiling water).  This was named by the Agua Caliente band of Cahuilla Indians, the groups of Indians who were living on the land at that time.

Just as my parents have some stories to tell me, the Agua Caliente band of Cahuilla Indians have their stories to tell us.

These stories from the first people to ever set foot in the Coachella Valley are going to be be told from March 4th through March 8th at the Festival of Native Film and Culture.

The Festival of Native Film and Culture is definitely the highlight of this week’s FREE: Films, Events, Music feature.  And although this event is not free in terms of hard cash, the enlightenment that you will take away from the experience shall be priceless.

Take a step on the wild side and go check it out.  And if you can’t make it out to the festival, then at least try to get in on these:
