Got word of the Desert Show about a week before execution.  As soon as I heard about this show, and the concept for the show to feature desert artists and artists inspired by the desert, I had to go.  Anything desert, and I’m there for sure.  Plus, “Desert Sexy”?!?!  Can’t miss out on that.
So, I roll up to the spot the Wednesday before the Saturday show with the Date Farmers.  The show is tucked away on La Cienaga, in the heart of the arts district of Culver City, CA.  Sweet.
The Date Farmers were telling me that their latest collaboration music video (with Logan) for NASA, “A Volta”, was going to be featured in the show… projected through vintage video arcade games.  This is what the place looked like when we first showed up:

some other art that was already there…

the guys began to work their magic…

Waaa laaa! The Date Farmers did a really great job of transforming the old video arcade games into Date Farmer arcade games.
We left the spot and we were to return a couple days later for the big Opening of the show. i was really looking forward to checking out everyone else’s art and also to see the old school desert rockers, The Yawning Man.

Night of the gallery Opening alot of people came through…

Check out the stage back drop for the band. Pretty narly, right? I swear I have seen that car around the desert…

Check out some of the other artist’s art…

Here is a video I took before the show, as the Date Farmers were setting up…

and I leave you with a quick 30 second video that I took at the show…
