Two art shows that I’m really looking forward to this weekend are Royal Projects’s Dennis Oppenheim’s Splash Buildings and David Blank’s Blank Expressions.
Just to my luck, they are both on the same night.
But, also to my luck, the timing is perfect so I can catch both shows.
In his first exhibition at Royale Projects, Dennis Oppenheim focuses on the atmospheric fusion of architecture and sculpture, while examining the relation of macrocosm and microcosm. The Splash Buildings depict giant tear drops crashing and bursting upward into forms that create exterior structures conceptualized as buildings reaching forty stories high.

Dennis Oppenheim is included in the permanent collections of over 100 major museums worldwide including the Tate Gallery in London, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Los Angeles County Museum, the Muse d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles.

Reception : Friday February 26 2010, 4-9pm
