The Inland Empire.
It’s that piece of California that is often overlooked – but definitely shouldn’t be. It’s raw. It’s real. And it’s basically the Coachella Valley’s edgy cousin that smokes a lot (hence the smog).
I have a gang of friends (not friends who are in gangs) who are from the Inland Empire. They are sharp, they are talented, they have something to say, and they should be heard.
More than just cool people, the Inland Empire is also home to a venue that I have spend many-a-night at… The Barn at UCR.
This Wednesday UC Riverside has two shows going on that if I didn’t tell you about I wouldn’t be doing my job.
If you got the day off, at noon you should find yourself at the bell tower located in the center of the campus. UTB Lifestyle (the future of hip hop) will be rocking the stage. Then, later that night, at The Barn, NO AGE will be playing a FREE show. Yes, No Age is the punk band from LA that came up the way they should in the music scene and deservedly wounded up on stage at Coachella Fest last year. I saw them before their Coachella Fest appearance when they did an art show with Alf Alpha about a yeah and a half ago at New Image Art and it was gnarly.
Both shows are highly recommended. If you got the day off, or you’re feeling adventurous, then I invite you to come.
some people are scared for the future of hip hop. i’m not. after you check out these guy’s live show, you won’t be either.
Free. All ages. Noon. UCR’s Belltower.
NO AGE! Free. 8:00pm. All ages! The Barn at UCR. Gnar.
