This Sunday is FREE for all at the Palm Springs Art Museum!  Not only is there free entrance to anyone and everyone who has interest in art, but there are also free activities and film screenings that the museum offers as well.  It’s a win-win situation.

Berger Foundation, the museum is proud to present Free 2nd Sundays features a schedule of programming for all ages and interests including hands-on family activities, performances, films on art and culture, docent-led spotlight talks and demonstrations of artists at work. The fall activities are centered on Western Art, A Collective Journey and Artistic Vision.”

Woman Like That, Ellen Weissbord, U.S.A., Italy, 2010 • The provocative work and heroic life of 17th century female painter Artemisia Gentileschi inspires filmmaker Ellen Weissbrod as she travels the world to right a centuries-old wrong. Her heartfelt journey upends typical artist biographies and delivers a different kind of documentary. 93 minutes.

Although Ellen Weissbrod has been making documentaries for almost twenty years, “a woman like that” is her first personal, feature length film. Weissbrod’s previous work includes the IDA nominated “Face to Face” a provocative portrait of thirty-eight year old conjoined twins Lori and Reba Schappell; the Emmy nominated “It Just Takes One;” and the Warner Bros. feature documentary, “Listen Up: The Lives of Quincy Jones,” which premiered at the Edinburgh, Toronto and New York Film Festivals. Roger Ebert named it as one of the best films of 1990. Weissbrod has also made award winning commercials for HBO and many music videos.

Altered Valentine • Enjoy Valentine’s Day as you listen to the story The Day It Rained Hearts by Felicia Bond. Then look for hearts throughout the museum and create your own altered valentine for a loved one and the museum.
