On February 26th Epidemic Skateboard Shop opened up their doors to Robert Medina’s solo art show with the CVAS Art Space. From the moment the doors opened people poured in, pieces were sold, and music was made…
The CVAS Art Space is a wall located inside Epidemic Skateboard Shop dedicated to featuring the latest works from local artists of the Coachella Valley. Shows are co-curated by The Coachella Valley Art Scene and Epidemic Skateboard Shop. Robert Medina’s Dots & Lines show was the The CVAS Art Space’s third exhibition.
Choosing Robert Medina to be the featured artist was an easy one for both Epidemic and The CVAS to agree on. His pieces are vivid and complex, using contrasting bright colors in conjunction with organic and geometric shapes that evoke a sense of playfulness. It is obvious he draws a great influence in his works from personal experiences, as there is a ‘desert’ feel to them. Not only does his art create an intellectual interest, but they are also incredibly aesthetically appealing. There is no doubt in our minds that this young artist is to go on to do great things in the art world.
Below are photos (and light commentary) from his Opening Reception on February 26th at Epidemic Skateboard Shop. Robert’s work is currently on display, for sale, and will be at the shop until May of 2012.

Do these fonts look familiar? Robert is the man behind all the hand painted text work at the Ace Hotel. His style is so fresh, so clean.
