Dear Coachella Valley Art Scene,

Hello!  And welcome back to another week here on The Coachella Valley Art Scene!

Well, let’s see… how can we talk about anything besides the weather?  It’s not like this 115 degree heat with humidity isn’t driving us insane or anything… did I mention the A/C in my car isn’t working?

  Moving onward….

Despite the heat, the humidity, and the fact that The CVAS will be gone next week on a mini-vacation (yay!)…we are trying to stay as focused as possible.  We have a couple great blog posts coming to you this week that should hold you over for the next two (since we don’t blog while on vacation, in fact, we aren’t even next to a computer the whole time).  And because it’s already Wednesday, and we are blogging double time this week, let’s get to it!!

One of our favorite posts is coming up….Foodie Rant with Angie Kat!  Yes!  Her blog posts are brilliant and her food photography almost makes me feel criminal.  Angie Kat, aka AK Photography, has been consistently blogging for us for the past year and she is truly a remarkable lady.  With two kids and a baby on it’s way… we are sure that Angie Kat’s food cravings and taste buds are amped up and ready to go.  This week Angie shares with us a special receipt straight from her kitchen.  Always tasty, always healthy and always sassy…Food Rant with Angie Kat is where it’s at.

When the tough gets going, the going gets tough.  This weekend two of our favorite bands from the Coachella Valley will travel to Mexicali, Mexico for a show.  Viva Mexico! will be giving you guys all the details on Slipping Into Darkness & Pagan Power’s rager down south this Saturday.  Slipping Into Darkness has been slowly but surely building a fan base over the border and it’s definitely something to keep your eye on.  Look for the blog post coming sooner than later…

This Thursday, just like every other Thursday this Summer, is a Free Film screening at the Palm Springs Art Museum. Typically, it’s a foreign film, but this week (and every week forward until the end of summer) it’s different – it’s a Classic Film!  We love it!  Make sure to come back to the blog to see which favorite film of yours it is going to be.  Oh, and just looking ahead on this one…September 6th is the Annie Hall movie screening!  Wooo!  One of my personal favorites, can’t wait!

So, before we jump too far into the future, let’s take a step back.  We finally developed all the photos from the “There’s No Place Like Home” art show at Epidemic Skateboard Shop for the CVAS Art Space featuring Aaron Hansen and Rick Rodriguez!  Also our good friend, 5000 Photography, developed his and they are looking sharp!  This week we feature an Event Recap of the show, and prepare for our future endeavor….

Speaking of future endeavors, have you submitted photos to Coachella Valley Captured?  Coachella Valley Captured is a professionally bound book and art show that is a collaborative project between The Coachella Valley Art Scene and Epidemic Skateboard Shop that is asking anyone and everyone who considers themselves part of the Coachella Valley community to submit work.  Not limited to just locals, the show is asking anyone who has taken photos in the Coachella Valley on any subject to submit their work to be featured.  Please visit www.coachellavalleycaptured.tumblr.com for all submission details and deadlines.  Make sure to be apart of Coachella Valley print history!

And while you are on Tumblr, make sure to add us: thecvartscene.tumblr.com.  Oh, and while you are surfing the internet, make sure to peep our new Pinterest posts.  But, don’t forget about our Twitter.  Oh, man, how could I forget our Youtube Channel…ok, whoa – how about we just compile all of social networks into one post!  Organization is key, even on the Internet.  Make sure to come back for the Let’s Link Up post to get all updated and stuff then.

One thing that you can always rely on here on the blog is our 4-year-and-going post, Things 2 Do Thursday.  Since we will be gone next week we will most likely be posting the parties for these two upcoming weekends.  One thing that you can’t always rely on is our Random posts.  These are posts that pop-up out of nowhere – it’s the internet, you will never know what we find out here in the w(ild) w(ide) w(eb), so keep your eyes and ears out!

Lastly, we would like to gracefully thank everyone who has continued to support The Coachella Valley Art Scene!  The past 4 years have been amazing, and we are looking forward to another 4!  If you ever would like to give us some suggestions on event/activities/parties/artists to post about, please email us and we’d be glad to talk it over with you: thecoachellavalleyartscene@gmail.com.  Thanks guys!

Sincerely,

sarah@thecoachellavalleyartscene.com
