In our last feature of Recaps of Happs from the Past we showed you guys highlights from this past summer’s independent nightlife. Despite the fact that it was over 100 degrees at night, many people were out of work, and music outlets for youth were (and still are) scarce – one thing that was for certain is that the Coachella Valley’s local music scene sure wasn’t giving up the fight…”to ppppaaaarrrttttyyy.”
Today, a couple months later down the road, the weather is beautiful, people are working again, and the ‘summer blues’ are finally behind us…
To celebrate the changing of the seasons in the desert, there’s no better way then to crowd together in a small roadhouse off Dillion Road in Desert Hot Springs to watch your favorite local bands and drink Whisky with the homies until your not just burning up inside, but the dance floor as well – right?! This is especially so when the night is hosted by Michael Durazo of Slipping Into Darkness, co-staring Pagan Powers, Golden Animals, Slipping into Darkness, and Mark Sultan.
Good weather, good whisky, great venue, company and music are all ingrediants to a wild night in Desert Hot Springs. And a wild night it ’twas…
Local photographer, Ken Foto, captures the magic…
Ken Foto is an excellent photographer with an extensive portfolio that spans well over 10 years, with travels around the world, he is adding to his collection documentation of the desert music scene. We love Ken Foto’s work, especially the way he captures the passion burning inside the artists, and the audience.
