We got wind that there was word of an artist who would be making art for the world to see within a 24hour time period. This means, little room for bathroom breaks and nose picking! A window pane is all that will separate the artist from the public eye…and we love it.
What will he smell like in the 23rd hour? How does he tap into his ‘creative zone’? Does he feel like an animal in a zoo?
Only one way to find out! Go check out the artist, Drew Scott, while you are roaming the streets of Palm Springs this evening. Scott and his art will be on display. Artist reception will be on Friday with completed piece, after a fresh shower!
Check out @ Art Gallery for more info.
The kick-off to the event will take place on Thursday, February 26 at 5:30 to 6:30 pm with Scott beginning to paint at 6 pm. Painting by Scott will continue throughout the evening and into the early morning hours of Friday, February 27, until Scott finishes his last stroke at 6 pm. A reception and sales of the art will be held on Friday evening, February 27, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, with a percentage of both Scott’s and Schatzmann’s work going to benefit the programs of The Center.
Scott, who grew up in Boston, says “Expressing myself thru painting was a much coveted but impractical dream of mine. Ultimately, that creative voice would not stay squelched.” Recently returned to the desert, Scott is ecstatic to be a part of this event, Conception to Completion, where he will be painting in the window of @ Art Gallery on multiple canvases non-stop for 24 hours.
Gallery hours are from 11 am to 9 pm Thursdays and 10 am to 9 pm Fridays.
