KAREN LOFGREN’S
“RITUAL LANDSCAPE” REMAINS ON VIEW THROUGH MARCH 22
“RITUAL LANDSCAPE” REMAINS ON VIEW THROUGH MARCH 22
Make sure to visit royale projects this week to experience how Karen Lofgren transforms environments by taking the familiar and shaking it from its foundation, posing questions of belief, and value.
In her multi-room installation at royale projects, materials for building, infrastructure, and decorating, such as sand and metals, are shaped into highly charged, immersive and animistic sculptural works and embodied environments.
With content intertwining history, sex work, the night sky, the spirit world, and abandoned structures, “Ritual Landscape” offers a new vantage point of the world shifting under our feet.
The Celestial Pigsty installation
Interlocking brass poles dominate the dance of “Celestial Pigsty”, an installation room taking its name from a constellation of Chinese astronomy.
Envy the Ocean installation and Dread Strand
Black sand structures of “Envy the Ocean!” appear in a state of simultaneous growth or destruction, watchfully following viewers in the space.
