It’s a Full Moon in the desert tonight.

These are favorite kinds of nights; eerie, leery, creepy, and cool.  The mystique, the mayhem, the minaj, the romance.  Full moons bring out the best, and the worst and in the desert… it just turns up the “extreme” dial a couple notches.

Event INFO: Experience love even after Valentine’s Day has come and gone! The Cool Factor is pulling out all the stops for this upcoming show,The Love Hangover. This jazzy and soulful event catering to poets and spoken word artists is sure to rekindle some old flames. Expect to see a dynamic line-up of poets set the stage ABLAZE.  Poets will take you on a sweet, verbal journey through the beginning and aftermath of love. Soulful musicianship from Inland Empire R&B band, Juss Money (Pechanga Casino, Hip Kitty Jazz Lounge) will effortlessly blend smooth jazz and neo-soul to create a cozy, romantic vibe.  The Love Hangover features award winning spoken word artistAndrew Tyree. Also featuring the Desert’s own poetic heavyweightsLugo, Novelist and Michael Shawn.  The show takes place Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Space 120.Must be 21 & over with ID. Tix are discounted thru February 1st, so act fast and get ’em now! Doors open at 7pm with the show to kickoff at 8pm.  Remember Village Fest takes place Thursday nights, so make sure you arrive EARLY. Better yet, just hang out downtown and check out the vendors, grab a bite to eat and then come on up to Space 120 to get your love fix.

Banger alert.  This party is going to get wild.  If you went to the last party that Alf Alpha headlined at the Date Shed then you already know what it is. Band, band, band, then dance, dance, dance.  Wear good shoes because there is no parking on the dance floor.

SATURDAY NIGHT:

Are you familiar with the super yummy, ultra-fantastic, breakfast/lunch restaurant, Cheeky’s in Palm Springs?  If you’re not, please do get familiar because that’s one of my favorite places in all of the Coachella Valley to get breakfast.  Anyways, Cheeky’s (the breakfast/lunch restaurant) just opened up a NEW BAR/light dining spot.  Yum yum.  The new bar is going to be poppin’ in no time, so make sure to come out this Saturday and see it first.  Food will be delicioso, drinks will stiff, and Alf Alpha will be pleying the rare party jams to make ya hips sway and smiles stay.  As you might have already figured out… we will definitely be there, so if ya wanna hang with the Coachella Valley Art Scene then come holler!

Chase the winter out of your bones at The Do-Over‘s Palm Springs edition, The Sleep-Over presented by Red Bull and Adidas Originals. The Do-Over crew will take to the 10 fwy and arrive at the Ace for a very special get-down with a roster of — in the tradition of The Do-Over — amazing mystery DJs.  Check in, relax and enjoy the pool, get drinks and a facial and explore Palm Springs. On Saturday // late night, from 10pm – 2am, The Do-Over presents in the Amigo Room.

And if you aren’t going to be on the West side of the 760, don’t trip because the East side will be just as bumpin’ bumpin’.  The Evaro grace the stage along with Freaky Folk and John Stanley King.  Be there or be a square.

EVENT INFO: 8 bands representing the diversity of this music series plus 2 documentary films . “Test Site “covering desert culture & lifestyles . Made by a Swedish film maker Jesper Wachtmeister this amazing look at desert life all over the world features segments on the So Cal desert music scene with rare generator party footage from Indio Hills with Fatso Jetson and Unsound.
Also we are presenting “A History Lesson” In 1984, a teenage Dave Travis decided to capture punk rock in Los Angeles on video tape, a fascination and hobby that he would continue until 1997, logging in hundreds of hours of Los Angeles area shows and interviews. In “A History Lesson Part 1, Travis presents live footage filmed in the spring of 1984 featuring the Meat Puppets, Minutemen, Twisted Roots and Redd Kross interspersed with interviews of members from each group which examines and puts a perspective on the early years of “psychedelic” punk rock in Los Angeles and Phoenix, AZ. Each song by each group is presented from start to finish
