Do you have a passion for fashion?  High-end, low-end, street or couture?

This week El Paseo celebrates fashion it all it’s glory in the mean streets of Palm Desert.  Never knew the desert could be so cutting edge in couture?  Ha!  Well, think again.

From local designers, to locally inspired designer, to featured shops, to celebrities… the El Paseo Fashion Week sure doesn’t fall short of glamour…. as if anything in the desert ever would?… Hmph!

If you missed some of the shows that have already passed, we have provided you with some great video recaps.  If you have the time to catch a few while the going is still good, then make sure to skim through our recommended shindigs.

Also, don’t forget to get on the after party circuit… those are always just as equally entertaining.

Some pieces of beautiful art gracing the runways of the Coachella Valley.

Later this week…

True Glitz: Rendezvous, Rodeo & Rhinestones
Doors open at 11 am / show starts at noon

You know how the West was won. Now discover how the West was worn. This fashion retrospective features Nashville couturier Manuel’s collection of rhinestone jackets of the 50 states, garments from the 1950s Desert Circus (courtesy of Palm Springs Historical Society), and midcentury Western wear. Enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres; a performance by pianist David Bourne (HBO’s Deadwood), who blends old time and modern music; and an auction of designer items to benefit United Way.
Net proceeds will benefit United Way of the Desert.

• Project Runway
with Michael Costello, Mondo Guerra and Christopher Collins
Doors open at 7:00 pm / show starts at 8:00 pm

You saw them on Heidi Klum’s reality-TV hit. Now the desert’s Michael Costello, Mondo Guerra, and Christopher Collins debut their first collections since the eighth season finale of Project Runway. This time they aren’t coached by Tim Gunn, they had more than one sweep of the hands around the clock to design and sew, and none will be asked to pack their things. But you can be sure they’re eager to please their new judges: You!

Trina Turk Presents “Palm Springs Eternal”
Doors open at 6:00 pm / show starts at 8:00 pm

Using Palm Springs as her muse, Trina Turk showed her Spring 2011 collection during New York Fashion Week to rave reviews. Now she shows it in her own back yard. Visit her pop-up store before and after the show to pick up your own Eternal look.

Net proceeds from the evening benefit Desert Outreach Foundation, a local nonprofit providing scholarships and comforting children in crisis through its Teddy Bear Program.
