Top Tumblr of the Week:
This week on the Coachella Valley Art Scene we have given into our Tumblr obsession and decided to push/shove/share it with the rest of the world.
We figured out a cooler way to share our love for the micro-blogging website – beyond linking the photos we post to our Facebook page – is to highlight a fellow desert dweller’s Tumblr that we admire and check regularly for inspiration.
For this week’s Top Tumblr post we wanted to give a shout out to Cristopher Cichocki who ever since joining Tumblr has been providing us with nothing but the rawest in photos of interesting art installations, photographs from the Salton Sea and (our favorite) original content. We can dig it. Especially being that Tumblr is a place where you are constantly seeing trendy fashion, pop stars, ironic photos, and reblogs. However, on the Cristopher Sea tumblr, you won’t see any of that….
Below we have provided you with some of our favorite posts from Cristopher Cichocki’s Cristopher Sea blog. Make sure to check it out, not only do you get a vibe for what Cichocki is all about… but you also get a peak into the everyday life if a desert dweller based out in the Mojave Desert, more specifically the Salton Sea.
As you can see from the blog, Cristopher Cichocki is an interetsing man. Read his bio below for for info. You’ll be glad you did:
“Cristopher Cichocki lives and works in the desert of Southern California’s Coachella Valley. The core of his influences spans diverse territories including: Earthworks, Minimalism, Fluxus, Arte Povera, DADA, guerrilla art, quantum physics, and experimental music. Encompassing painting, photography, video, sculpture, sound, installation, and performance; Cichocki accents relationships of interconnection, constant flux, and sublime entropy. Throughout exploration of sites off the beaten path he inserts his vision onto subjects of ecological decay and abandonment. The scope of Cichocki’s practice amplifies the world around us, illuminating the ephemeral, continually shifting nature of existence.”
