Dating in the desert is sometimes hard.  Not because there’s not enough beautiful people out here (definitely not the case) but because sometimes we get a little short on fund$ and start to get discouraged on what to “do”  – which, for some reason, always kinda leads to….nothing.   Now, I might just be speaking for myself (cough cough), but  that gets old really quick.

To counter boredom, bad dates and being broke Sunnylands has set up the perfect Friday night treat; a Free Film Series.  Score. This is an all ages, outdoors and educational (for film nerds) event, ingredients to make a great date.

If you haven’t been to Sunnylands yet, go early on Friday before the sun sets to take a walk around the property.  You (and your date) will be so happy that you did.

This Friday evening….

at the Sunnylands Estate in Rancho Mirage

“Rear Window,” directed by Alfred Hitchcock, is a mystery/thriller from 1954. This Hollywood classic stars Grace Kelly, James Stewart, and Raymond Burr. The film, called one of Hitchcock’s finest, tells the story of a whellchair-bound photographer, who while recovering from a broken leg, spies on his neighbors from his apartment window and becomes convinced one of them has committed murder. Stewart plays the photographer and Kelly, his girlfriend.

The film will be shown outside on the Great Lawn at Sunnylands Center & Gardens. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. No pets please. Admission is free. Carpooling is strongly advised. Filmgoers may bring small picnics but are reminded that no large coolers are allowed at Sunnylands. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited. Gates open at 6:00 pm and film begins at 7:00 pm. Film running time: 112 minutes.

Presented in partnership with the Palm Springs International Film Festival.
